Throughout my time in Japan, I saw many kingfishers, which I was very happy with as they are my favourite bird along with the Barn owl. At one point in the trip, we went to a park and afterward, I visited a small little garden, which I only had half an hour in, so I wasn’t sure what I was going to see… To my surprise, the moment I walked in, I spotted a blue bird sitting on one of the posts in the pond, and it was, of course… The Common Kingfisher. I started to take photos, and I decided to get down low for a nice reflection in the dark water on that miserable cloudy day.. After many attempts, I was delighted to get the shot I wanted, after only 20 minutes, which is amazing to compare the sheer amount of time I have spent in the past waiting to get a shot like that of a kingfisher.
